RULES
- Library registration is mandatory to become a library member for CMFRI staff and scholars.
- Textbooks, printed materials and other personal belongings are not allowed inside the library.
- Using Cellular phones and audio instruments with or without speakers or headphones is strictly prohibited on the library premises.
- Enter your name and signature in the register at the entrance counter before starting the library reference.
- Books and other materials are taken out of the library should be shown to the staff at the entrance counter.
- The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time, and the member shall return the same immediately.
- Library borrower cards are not transferable. The borrower is responsible for the books borrowed on their card.
- Refreshments of any kind are not allowed inside the library.
- Silence is to be maintained.
Admission to Library
Other Institutional staff, scholars and students are allowed to use the CMFRI Library only upon production of an authorized letter from their institutions/valid Identity Cards.
Working hours of the Library
- Monday to Friday - 9.00 am to 5.30 pm
- Lunch hours - 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm
- The library will remain closed on all Saturdays, Sundays and Government holidays.
Issue System
Books/Journals will be issued to the user on presentation of the library Identity card issued from the Library. All are instructed to check the books while borrowing and are responsible for any kind of damage or mutilation noticed at the time of return.
Overdue Charges
Books will be issued to the borrowers for 30 days only. Fine will be charged @ Re.1 per day per book from the due date till the book is returned to the library.
Book Lost
If the Books/Documents are lost, then the borrower shall replace the Book/Document of the same edition or the latest edition or pay double the cost of the book after getting permission from the Librarian.
Care of Library borrower cards
Take special care to maintain the library borrower cards. Do not fold or alter entries made on the cards; members are responsible for the library borrower card issued to them.
Loss of Library cards
Loss of a Library Identity card should be reported to the librarian in writing. A new replacement card may be issued on payment of Rs.50/-.
Validity of Library Identity cards
Library Identity cards are valid until the completion of respective academic/projects/Retirement dates only. At the end of the academic/projects, completion/retirement date, library identity cards shall be returned to the library.
No Due Certificate
Each student/scholar/staff shall obtain a No Dues Certificate from the library after returning all the books issued in their name and surrendering the identity card after paying any outstanding dues.
Care of Library Books
Users are required to handle the Books/ Documents very carefully; marking with pencil, writing or highlighting, tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such cases, the user will be responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.
Reference Section
Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Atlases, Species Identification Sheets, Textbooks, Reports, Rare Volumes and other reference books are available in the Library. Users can make use of these resources only within the Library.
Journal Section
The latest issues of current periodicals are displayed alphabetically on journal display racks. Bound volumes of journals are arranged in the stack room.
Publication Control
CMFRI Publication Series Numbers and ISBN are issued by the Library.
