Inauguration of the Hands-on Training Programme on "Mariculture Farming Practices and Its Management at Karwar Regional Station (KRS) of ICAR-CMFRI, Karwar
The Hands-on Training Programme on "Mariculture Farming Practices and Its Management" for beginner Scheduled Caste beneficiaries under the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP) commenced today with an inaugural function held at the Karwar Regional Station (KRS) of ICAR-CMFRI, Karwar.
The programme began with participant registration, followed by the rendition of Vande Mataram, the Nada Geethe, and the ICAR Song. Dr. C. Kalidas, Scientist-in-Charge (SIC) and Principal Scientist, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the activities and research carried out at the station. The Chief Guest, Shri Sushil Naik, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Uttara Kannada, delivered the inaugural address and highlighted the various support schemes and benefits provided by NABARD for the development of the fisheries sector. Dr. Kurva Raghu Ramudu, Scientist, delivered a lecture on the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP), explaining its objectives, initiatives, and the benefits available to Scheduled Caste beneficiaries.
A total of 12 Scheduled Caste benefisheries participated in the programme. The training is being conducted over eight days and includes hands-on training and practical demonstrations on cage farming and other mariculture farming practices. As part of the first day's technical sessions, Dr. C. Kalidas delivered a lecture on Mariculture Farming Practices. Dr. V. Mahesh and Dr. Tanveer Hussain., Scientists, conducted technical sessions following the inauguration. Later, Dr. Sonali S. Mhaddolkar and Dr. Praveen N. Dube, Technical Officers, guided the participants through the mariculture museum and various laboratories at the station, explaining the ongoing research activities and facilities. The first day's programme concluded with the National Anthem. The remaining seven days will comprise hands-on training, practical demonstrations, and field visits at different locations to provide participants with comprehensive exposure to mariculture farming practices.
