Training Programme on “High Value Marine Ornamental Fish Breeding and Culture” to be held at ICAR-CMFRI Mandapam RC and Tuticorin RS
ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI), through its Mandapam Regional Centre and Tuticorin Regional Station, is organizing a training programme on “High Value Marine Ornamental Fish Breeding and Culture” from 17 to 21 August 2026.
The training programme will provide participants with theoretical and practical exposure to various aspects of marine ornamental fish breeding and culture. The programme includes sessions on captive breeding of clownfish and damselfish, marine ornamental fish resources of the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay, culture of phytoplankton and zooplankton for larval rearing, reproductive biology and breeding of ornamental fish, larval rearing techniques, aquarium tank fabrication, water quality management, packing and transportation, and disease management in marine ornamental fish hatcheries.
Participants will also receive practical exposure to marine gastropod breeding and larval rearing, water quality management in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), and feed formulation for marine and ornamental fish. The programme will be conducted at the Mandapam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI from 17 to 20 August and at the Tuticorin Regional Station of ICAR-CMFRI on 21 August 2026.
