Background :
Currently, I am working as a Senior Scientist at ICAR-CMFRI, Vizhinjam Research Centre, with extensive research and academic experience in marine biotechnology and aquatic animal health. I completed my postgraduate degree in Marine Biology from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in 2001 and commenced my PhD in 2003. I was awarded a PhD degree in Marine Biotechnology from CUSAT in 2009 for my research on “Mangrove plant Ceriops tagal as a potential source of anti-White Spot Syndrome Virus preparations for Penaeus monodon.” In 2010, I joined the Department of Aquaculture, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, Kochi, as a Lecturer. In 2011, I began my postdoctoral research at the National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health (NCAAH), CUSAT. During my postdoctoral tenure, I served as Principal Investigator and successfully secured two externally funded research projects from the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Kerala. In 2016, I joined ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA) as a Research Scientist in the Crustacean Culture Division and subsequently joined the ICAR-CIBA Kakdwip Research Centre, West Bengal, in 2022. In 2026, I joined ICAR-CMFRI, Vizhinjam Research Centre, as a Senior Scientist. My research interests encompass the development of sustainable approaches for enhancing mariculture production, fish genetics and breeding, molecular immunophysiology of marine species in response to pathogens and extreme climate variability, and aquatic animal health. My current research also focuses on microbial profiling of mariculture systems to characterize beneficial and harmful microbial communities and develop science-based strategies for improving the health, sustainability, and productivity of marine aquaculture systems.
